April is a native educator from the Navajo Nation and Anishinaabe of the Sagkeeng First Nation. She received her bachelor’s degree in Human Rights and anthropology from Columbia University. She was a Teach for America Corps Member and taught on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation for five years. In 2017, she completed her master’s degree in education administration and became the Instructional Director at Pine Ridge Girls’ School. April is currently the Head of School at Pine Ridge Girls’ School and continues pursuing educational equity for all indigenous students.
