Our supportive, culturally-immersive, all-girls environment allows young Lakota women to address past trauma and abuse, and become comfortable with themselves from the inside out. Rather than remaining victims of circumstance, our students gain the confidence that feeds her self-worth and identity, allows her to succeed in her education, find her voice, and seize her potential as a change-maker.

Traditionally, women are the backbone of the Lakota people. As in any community, if you educate the girls, the whole community benefits. PRGS is the only all-girls college prep school on any reservation in America. Led by women, it is designed to reverse the history of injustice and revitalize the beautiful, enduring, and intensely impoverished Lakota community – starting with the young girls who live there.

Distinguished experts in education and health and wellness shape our academic approach. But the culture, values, and traditions of the Oglala Lakota Nation ground our curriculum. Our goal is to ensure that our girls build skills and interests most relevant to the Lakota people as they become college-ready, 21st-century problem-solvers.

There is much spiritual and cultural richness on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. There is also poverty, chronic health issues, lack of education, violence against women, and high unemployment. Historically, only 30% of girls and boys on the reservation graduate high school and only 2% are college-ready. We exist to drastically improve these statistics for Lakota girls and change the trajectory of their lives.

We foresee a day when every Lakota girl on the Pine Ridge reservation is prepared academically, spiritually, and emotionally to flourish, reach her full potential, and give voice and energy to critical advocacy, healing, and community-building efforts.
Our rigorous college-prep curriculum is grounded in Lakota culture, language, and values, preparing our girls to walk in both worlds, and proudly be Lakota wherever they go.
